Auerbach in Berlin. A heaven full of beautiful accessories

rob_bowtie_office02As one might have noticed, I am a guy who is quite fond about fashion and I like my own kind of dandy style. it is my individual interpretation of this style and not everyone might like it, but I do and so it is fine 🙂 I love to combine items that don’t fit together when considering the classic rules. But rules are there to be broken, right 🙂

And I am absolutely fond of silk ties and bowties. Of course I never wear pre-tied ones. The fun in wearing a bowtie is that it is NOT 100% perfect, because that shows I have tied it all by myself (which is easy as cake). It is the imperfection, the little flaws that brings the charm to a tie. Maybe not when wearing it to an official dinner, but for daily use the nonchalance makes it perfect.

Last week when I went to my barber in the Mühle shop in the Hackesche Höfe in Berlin, I passed Auerbach. This is an elegant store (shop is not the right word) with endless amounts of ties, bowties, pocket squares made of the finest materials. When entering this store and seeing all these beautiful items, it feels like the song Shirly Temple once song “On The Good Ship Lollipop”

Here is what I mean:

On the good ship lollipop.
Its a sweet trip to a candy shop
Where bon-bons play
On the sunny beach of Peppermint Bay.

Lemonade stands everywhere.
Crackerjack bands fill the air.
And there you are
Happy landing on a chocolate bar.

That’s how a man feels when he sees all that silk candy 🙂

I have chosen a beautiful bowtie in a deep blue with the cutest edelweiss on it. The gentlemen who assisted me with my decision was very kind and, of course, very stylish and perfectly matching the store (or was the store perfectly matching this gent?)

It is a bit dangerous to enter, becaue one not only could loose his heart but also his mind by seeing all these beguiling beauties 🙂 Like one of the fairy tales of Scheherazade
