Bearded Blogging

Proraso®| A long-standing company with great products for true-hearted gents

All the below described products can be bought at Heldenlounge.

I have tried many many products on my journey to a experienced beardman. And most of those products are really good. You can read some posts about them throughout this blog.

But during this journey there was one brand which name popped up again and again: Proraso®. I must admit that I was not really fond of this brand and that I avoided the products.

Well, a man is never too old to learn  right 😉  It started with the beard oil. Oh man that scent… I just LOVE it! Every morning when I take a shower, wash my beard and indulge myself and my beard with some leave-in cream conditioner. And before I leave my apartment I give my beard an extra treatment and put some drops of the Proraso® beard oil on my palm of my hand and rub my hands against each other.

Than I do some aroma therapy 🙂 Shortly before applying the oil into my beard, I have a deep smell and enjoy the lovely perfume of the oil. It is such a great start of the day 🙂

Than I apply it into my beard an on my skin underneath and use my brush to take care that every single hair is covered with the oil. The brushing also promotes the bood circulation and as a result the skin produces tallow which is great for hair.

I like the oil so much, that I started using the shaving soap of Proraso®. This shavinbg soap is so amazing. Thick, luscious, rich. It feels great on the skin and it also smells great. Fresh, masculine but not pushy.  Than I got a sample of Proraso after shave balm which I tried immediately after my next shave. Well what can I say… Of course the balm was awesome.

So now I decided to get myself the complete product line of Proraso®. I will list the products in the order in whcih I use them in the morning (or evening when I have to get up very early 😉 ). I will write about my experience with the white line of Proraso® which is for sensitive skin.

Shaving

Proraso® Pre-Shaving Cream

I have an extremely sensitive skin and razor burn was my daily torture. Until I discovered this magical cream which is applied on the skin before using shaving soap. When I prepare my lather, the cream has time to take effect. The cream tingles and will be absorbed by the skin. Than I take my beautiful shaving brush from Mühle and I start covering my throat and face with lather.

The shave is smooth, painless and pleasant. Such a difference compared to shaves without this cream from Proraso®. I will never shave without it anymore 🙂

Here’s what Proraso® says:

Its formula has been specifically designed for sensitive skin and enriched with Oatmeal Extract and Green Tea to soften the beard,

defend the skin from the razor and help prevent redness.

The shaving soap of Proraso® makes a lather which feels like silk whipped cream. It is rich and luxurious and has the same fresh and pleasant scent as the pre-shaving cream.. It protects and caresses one’s skin and the razorblade glides elegantly and softly over the skin. With this soap shaving becomes an indulging beauty treatment.

Here’s what Proraso® says:

Its formula, ideal for sensitive skin, is enriched with Oatmeal Extract and Green Tea for an emollient and soothing effect.

It’s the ideal way to calm redness caused by shaving.

After Shave Balm

Even if the pre-shave cream and the shaving soap are taking care that your skin is protected, it is still good to give the skin  some relief. The consistence is liquid but not waterish. More like unwhipped cream. The cream feels like a fresh sea-breeze and  soothes the skin softly.

Here’s what Proraso® says:

Its formula, ideal for sensitive skin, is enriched with Oatmeal Extract and Green Tea for an emollient and soothing effect.

It’s the ideal way to calm redness caused by shaving.

Proraso® Stiptic Gel

The Proraso® Styptic Gel is legendary in it’s ability to seal nicks and and stop the bleeding from cuts due to a rough shave. It is different than your good od alum stone. Just take a tiny bit and tab it on the razor cut and you’re good to go. The bleeding will stop immediately and you can be sure, that it wont restart bleeding.

Beard Nurturing

I am an extremely vain guy 🙂 And I am extremely proud of my beard. I do a lot to make my beard happy, so it stays good looking. Because when my beard is handsome, I am handseome as well 🙂

Proraso® has, of course, also a product line for us dedicated beard owners (or does the beard own me?) . Let’s have a look 😉

Beard Balm

I like to use this balm after washing my beard with the beard shampoo from oak. It is just that little extra care one also does after washing head hair. After drying the beard with a towel, only dabble and NEVER rub!, I put a small amount (4-5 drops) on my hand and work it into my beard. I take my beard brush to get the balm spread more deep into my beard.

Here’s what Proraso® says:

An harmonious and comfortable blend of cedar wood and notes of Mediterranean cistus leave the beard with a pleasant sensation of freshness.

Beard Oil

That’s the final step after I got dressed and just before leaving y flat. The beard is dry and nutured. I just want to add some extra brilliance and  want to smell the lovely scent before leaving my cosy flat a to face the rushing city. I just take a few drops fromn the dropper and work it in my beard. It smells great, the beard becomes soft as silk and shines like a diamond 🙂

Beard Hot Oil

This is a very special and luxurious indulgment 🙂 I really love to do this ritual! Sundays are great for this.

I take a bowl with hot water. It should not be boiling. The hot water of the tab is sufficient. Than I put one of the vials in the bwol and let it there for about 60 seconds. Than I take it out, dry the vial and open it. I just take a little amount ad apply it into my beard, which I have made wt with war water before. Please don’t take to much, because the oil is so very rich that it will be way too much.

Before I warmed the oil, I have warmed a towel in the oven (80°C plate warmer). Now I take the warm towel (the elegant ones from Mühle 😉 )and wrap it around my beard for about two minutes.

Than I wash my bard with cold water. When you look in the mirror you’ll see your beard shine like never before. And it also smells great 🙂
